Supervised observation and feeding for an adequate length of time but short enough not to cause any stress. I think the elephants in this scenario would happily munch on food for any given amount of time.
Unnatural Behaviour
We were introduced to the elephants and then split into two groups to visit the older elephants and to feed them. We then regrouped to watch other younger elephants bathing which was from a safe distance but hugely enjoyable for all involved!
Instruments of Control or Restraint
Very limited contact by the mahouts, I didn’t see any unnecessary directing & no sticks or bull hooks .
Overall Impression / Feedback
Very happy with what I witnessed the relationship between elephant and mahout looked very relaxed and natural.
